Aidan Fruit or Tetrapleura Tetraptera(known in Ghana as PREKESE), is a native of West Africa and belongs to the pea family. This fruit has an aromatic smell due to which it also has insect repellent properties. It is basically used as spices and as a medicinal plant. It is a rich source of antioxidants and has a high concentration of minerals and phytochemicals, protein, lipids, potassium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, calcium, sodium, copper, sugars and vitamins C. It also has anti- inflammatory properties. Its leaves, bark and above all the fruit contains medicinal properties for cures such as wound healing properties, convulsion management, analgesic properties, fever, enema, diabetes, antimicrobial, postpartum care, gastrointestinal disorders, etc.
